Title says it all. Post your reasons why.
My favorite is Third Genration, due to it having some of the best starters and Kyogre.

4th gen because of Shaymin
But I do like 3rd gen cuz of Treeko and Mudkip.
1st gen because of Charmander. Thats it for 1st gen.
2nd gen is that the one with Chikorita? If so I love that one cuz of Celebi and I got a rare female chikorita from Professer.
5th gen annoys me because you cant go back to previous regions OR walk with the pokemon. I do like Victini though and Dewott
Overall 4th gen!

like say sinnoh is the 4th generation because it was the 4th new lannd to be made up by nintendo that has been put into a game if that makes sense

That depends as i grew up watching from the start and am very loyal to that as i after the johto/kanto episodes the show went downhill hugely. However the third generation games were by far my favourite out of them all because of the pokemon and i liked all the towns. with black especially i felt the whole story had gotten tired i do still love trying to complete the pokedex though and the postgame features are nice.=]
